Amy Wong is a lecturer in the Asian American Studies and Sociology departments at San Diego State University. She teaches Social Research Methods, Classical Social Theory, Contemporary Social Theory, Sociology of Mental Illness, and Asian Americans and Mental Health. She is the recipient of several teaching awards, including the Favorite Faculty Award, the College of Arts and Letters Excellence in Teaching Award, the Weber Honors College Outstanding Faculty Award, the President’s Leadership Award for Faculty Excellence, and the Mortar Board Outstanding Faculty Award.
Professor Wong completed her Ed.D. at the University of Southern California, her M.A. in Social Sciences at the University of California, Irvine, her M.A. in Sociology at San Diego State University, and her B.A. in Political Science at the University of Redlands. Her monograph Stories of Survival: The Paradox of Suicide Vulnerability and Resiliency Among Asian American College Students was published in 2023 by Oxford University Press.
